How do I evaluate if my body is hormonally and/or chemically imbalanced?

I just turned 46, was just diagnosed diabetic and am appx 65 lbs overweight. I was at a healthy wt when I developed a severe lung problem that ended up requiring frequent hospitalizations, high doses of steroids and long term steroid/antibiotic use and went from walking and on my feet 12+ hrs/day as a nurse to in bed on disability. Needless to say, 4yrs later I gained all of this wt and am struggling to get in a healthier nutritional physical & emotional place. I have been doing some research online regarding my new whole food/organic diet and am experiencing a lot of conflicting facts and opinions on how to do this, there is so much info out there that it is overwhelming for a newbie to wade through it. My question is, since I have been sick, I have been extremely weak/lethargic and have chronic pain & am just absolutely wiped out after doing anything strenuous at all (like going to the grocery store, cleaning, laundry..etc) and am wondering if I have a huge imbalance of my hormones. I had a total hyster in 2006 and was on premarin but recently went off of that too. I now have the hotflashes..etc which I can live with but wonder if there is anything that can be done hormonally and chemically that will help me get to a healthier balance in my body so I can increase my activity and start to feel better again. I have mentioned it to my doc but she pretty much blew it off. I have no idea who to consult or how to find out how my body is chemcially and hormonally so I can start trying to balance it. Any ideas where or with whom I should start?
