I am intrigued whether the results would show by doing this on a cross trainer instead?

It is important to repeat that there is nothing magical about the act of incline walking itself.

The reason it is effective is because it is a low-impact way to work at a higher intensity.

Quite honestly, the people who are seeing the most dramatic results from incline walking were likely working at too low an intensity before--maybe because they didn't know any better or maybe because they couldn't tolerate other high intensity activities.

A cross trainer is a different type of machine entirety. Because one can adjust both pedaling speed and resistance, one can work easy up to maximum while doing essentially the same movement.

Thanks for reminding me about this I used to do it a lot when starting out. For some+reason my switch to outdoor walking made me+try flat treadmill last time it rained and that bored+the hail out of me, i'll remember to work+incline into my regular routine again+thanks to your thread.

This. It hit me a few weeks ago that I had become way less active since the start of winter. I tried HIIT and it wasn't for me. I just like the longer cardio sessions and incline on a treadmill clicked with me. It's enjoyable enough that I will stick with it.

Any cardio will work, as long as you have a caloric deficit. I have tried jogging, hiit, and walking and I still lose weight week after week without a single plateau
