When I run I feel like I need water every couple miles (not a lot, but enough to have to carry a water bottle). Everything I have read said that I should be able to go 4-8 miles without needing water. I know I can't make it long. I am always well hydrated. I have one kidney, and not sure if that has anything to do with it. Just curious if anyone else needs water frequently when running? I feel like I am doing something wrong since I am not able to run the mileage stated that I should without water.

I have two kidneys and I feel the same way. I don't care, it's not like I can run four miles at a single stretch yet anyway!

I can run 10-11 miles in winter without water. In warmer weather, I have to drink constantly.

See I can run over that in one stretch Obscuremusicreference, but even if I do my light running days 2-3 miles I need water with me. I wish winter made a difference for me, but I still need the water at about 2 miles.

I drank half a litre on my 7 mile run today. I always take my water bottle with me!!! I always need to drink too. It's natural. A few of my running buddies are the same.

I don't necessarily need to drink because I'm thirsty, I drink a lot while running because my throat is extremely dry making it harder and more painful to breath.

Drink water when you're thirsty. If you drink too much the body will get rid of it.

I don't need it, even in 95 degree weather, doing about 7K, but I always hydrate very well before I head out and as soon as I come in.

I drink a lot of water daily 16-12 cups and I drink constantly when running or any workouts including strength. I'm sure you are fine.

Thanks all. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't something I was doing wrong. I drink a ton of liquids throughout the day (mostly herbal tea, water, and usually late night sugar free hot coco). I think it is not so much that I am thirsty, but the dryness seems to get to me as well. It is not like I drink the whole bottle it is just a little.
