TDEE and weight loss

I was eating my TDEE and gradually gaining weight. So I came back on MFP to track calories and food. I cut my calorie intake way down, started eating way cleaner, and increased my workouts but am not seeing any change. It has been less than a week but I would have thought I would have seen something since I am even eating 500-700 less calories a day than my "goal" and working out more.

I also don't understand the apparent contradiction between needing a calorie deficit to lose weight and people saying you can eat too little.
