This is a new topic to me, what I have heard so far could help explain why I see erratic fits and starts with weight change when hitting calorie targets consistently. Am interested in if its an accepted thing or just another made up excuse.

Weight loss isn't linear, many people can see little or no change and then all of a sudden experience a 'whoosh' where they lose a decent amount in a short time. Sometimes they have been retaining fluid and lose that, sometimes its hormonal and other times *shrug* maybe it's just bodies being whacky.I've experienced the whoosh, went weeks only losing 1/2lb or so, then without changing anything significant, lost 3lb in a week.0

Does anyone else put on a pound or two before a whoosh?0

The "whoosh" is due to the fact that glycogen retains a significant amount of water. When the glycogen levels drop, so do the water levels. It is NOT, the result of fat cells holding water until they decide that they don't need to be as big. Fat is an oil and oil and water don't mix.0
