Goal to lose 50 pounds for my health

I have recently noticed that my blood pressure has been consistently elevated. Both of my parents have hypertension so I'm fighting against heredity. I am a single mother of 2 small kids and I have to stay healthy for them. I have been consistently working out 4 days a week for 3 weeks now. I need to get my diet right. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    In addition to working out try the DASH diet (http://dashdiet.org/) - should be recipes available. Also reduce salt intake, walk 10,000 steps per day (if possible), and meditation (I've used http://calm.com/ to help). Avoid smoking, and moderate alcohol consumption
