Will eating 500-800 Calories every day for a week help lose weight quicker?

I realise this could be dangerous but as a crash diet would this work if just done for a week?
I also notice that people say this could mess up your metabolism however when I am ill or know people that have been ill in the past I have consumed next to 0 calories for 3-4 days and lost a stone but my body has always recovered from this over the years?!

I think the mentality is unhealthy, and it's an unhealthy practice in terms of habits. You probably can't do too much damage in a week, but to the same token, you can't make a huge amount of progress in that time either. What's your reasoning for wanting to do it? I can't think of anything short of making weight for surgery that would be worth it to me.0

Yes, it would work.
Doesn't make it healthy but you already know that.0 -
I think you would be ok if it was twice a week, not consecutive days ( this is the 5:2 diet in essence!) but I dont think your poor body would like it continually, plus it does all sorts of crazy things with your hormones, so you would only put it back on quickly. there is no real quick fix other than calorie counting and exercise.....sorry0

Sure you'll lose weight faster, but as another poster hinter you will likely be tired and miserable. For me that would almost certainly lead to a binge that would wipe out any progress.0
