Spinning. Low impact and crazy cardio, fat burning exercise.

walk, swim, aerobic DVD's, resistance bands, march in place, bicycle, stretch, gardening, lawn mowing, anything that gets you moving and ups your heart rate for 20 minutes or more.

There is a great group of age 50+ women who can support you. Click on this link to get there.

What Diana said. Anything that will get you moving and that you'll enjoy on a recurring basis will burn some extra calories.

Run, cycle, swim. Then, on in between days lift weights -- heavy and often.

There's also a "Golden Years" thread that stays active on page 1/2 - I'm sure there are lots of great friends and supporters with advice :)

All exercise burns more calories than sitting! What is your fitness level? Do you have any restrictions or osteoporsis?

You need to start off with something appropriate for your fitness level, then increase as your fitness improves. If you have any medical restrictions, you should ask your physician what exercises are safe. If you have osteporosis, you should also consult your physician as some jumping exercises might not be safe.

Include some sort of resistance training to prevent bone loss and preserve muscle as you lose weight.

Walking or water aerobics and resistance bands are often good places to start if you haven't exercised in a while and no reason to believe they are not safe for you.
