Lift heavy ~ women.

I see all these articles on how women need to " lift heavy". What does that exactly mean? Is it in reference to going to a gym and lifting 100 lbs or can it mean simply using free weights at 15-20 lbs during in home work outs?

Heavy is a relative term meaning you use enough weight to cause failure in a low rep range. Lifting heavy can refer to heavy enough weight to cause failure in the strength rep range (1-7 reps) or it can also refer to using weight heavy enough to cause failure in the hypertrophy rep range (8-12 reps).0

Well 15 to 20lbs isnt that heavy
It generally means progressive weights and compound lifts
Here look at http://stronglifts.com/5x5/
Or strong curves or NROLFW0 -
Depending on the exercise, 15-20# can be heavy for some. Bicep curls for example. But not squats or other compound exercises.0
