"Birdman"... do you want to discuss the ending/meaning? (SPOILER ALERT!)
First, let me say that if you are a movie buff, Birdman is a MUST WATCH. It's genius.
I've watched the movie twice now, and it's my kind of movie! It doesn't make things obvious - it wants you to figure out for yourself what is going on and what's in this character's head, and it's one of those films that you'll find yourself noticing something new each time you see it. Having said that - what is your interpretation of the ending?

OK...
I think Riggin actually killed himself onstage with the gun; *CUT* to the hospital scene (the first CUT to a new scene in the entire film) is his subconscious mind winding out of the "physical life" and preparing him for the "spiritual" afterlife - seeing what he wants to see, his life flashing before his eyes - imagining he's gotten what he wanted and reconciling with those most important to him. Even the last shot (his daughter starting up at the sky & smiling) is part of Riggin's subconscious dream as he passes on.
There's a lot more I can discuss about this scene but I'll let the conversation start before jumping in with both feet.
Your thoughts?
