Balancing Calories and Nutrition

Hi everyone! I am new to MFP and noticed how difficult it seems to balance dietary values and calories in my meals. I ate one 6oz cup of yogurt and it put me over my daily Sugar by 3! Is there an app or website I can use to plan meals using all of the nutritional goals MFP has established for me on a 1500 calorie diet? Thanks and happy eating!

I had issues similar to this as well. I just went in to "Goals" and changed around some parameters. I eat a lot of fruit and it causes my sugar intake to be over like 100g. At first i was worried, but it's not like i'm taking in table sugars or refined sugars. Well, i do here and there, but the fruit definitely pushes it over. There are probably sites around that will assist you, but i just kept tinkering with what i ate and learning the macronutrients of foods i typically eat, and i just adjusted. You'll figure it out, keep at it!

For me I ignore the macro stuff, concentrate on calories and healthy eating [no fish & chips or pork pies for instance] and the rest will fall into line

I just thought I'd ask around for resources before I "re-invented the wheel" for myself. I'm sure I'll find a decent balance and healthy menus to choose from. Thanks guys!

You'll find alot of resources out there, but you have to find out what is right for you. You are going to be tweeking it constantly until you find what fits.

Like farway said at first concentrate on calories in calories out. Don't forget tot exercise.

Don't stress (too much) about sugar intake unless you have a reason to, like diabetes. I don't even track mine, I keep an eye on carbs as sugar falls into that category as well.

See is your health insurance will cover a nutritionist visit or three! Best thing you can do IMHO. And at 230 pounds, if I'm reading your profile right, 1500 calories is too low. The nutiritonist can help you refine the macros and calorie intake as well. Best of luck!
