Which Calculator Should I Use For TDEE?

The Mayo Clinic calculator has my TDEE at 2,250(somewhat active) - 2,450(active)

MFP has my TDEE at 2,790(active)

Fitness Frog has my TDEE at 3,166 (moderate) - 3,523(active)

As you can see there is quite the swing in calories entering the same info for each. I was losing 2+ pounds a week using MFP setting of 1,790 calories (1,000 deficit per day) but hit a wall a month ago and only lost 2 pounds since. I figured my calories were too low at this point and am trying to increase them by doing the TDEE -20% but ran into all of these different numbers.

Any success stories that care to share how they got over the hump when the weight loss stalled? Any ideas on how to get the weight loss going again?

Did you get your BMR number from the calculators as well? MFP set up includes your information and job activity. Exercise is supposed to be logged and eaten back with that method so it could be part of why the number was lower than fitness frog. If 1790 is lower than your BMR you might need to make a less aggressive cut to keep calories above that number. I'm not sure though. You'll likely get a lot of different idea though.
  • My BMR came back at 2055. Seemed kind of high to me. I've upped my calories 500 a day (lose one pound a week instead of 2) but still hovering around the same weight from 5 weeks ago. Any other guys run into similar problems. Any suggestions?
