Top of the foot, or the rib cage\side area?? I have both feet tattooed and that hurt like a *$#@&!! Thinking about a design for the flank area. Weigh in, those who have both!! Or just put in your two cents, unless you don't like tattoos. In that case, why answer? LOL

I've had my Side Rib, my back, nape of my neck and hip done and they weren't bad at all! I rather enjoyed how it felt on the nape of my neck! I have been considering the top of my foot or ankle and also heard that they hurt like a mofo!

I have one on the nape of my neck and kind of enjoyed it too! But yes, the foot hurts. It's the only one I actually ever said "Ow" out loud on LOL. I've just heard horror stories about how bad rib tattoos hurt...

I have one on the top of my foot. It didn't hurt as much as I thought it would. Surprisingly not my most painful tat. I watched my brother get a 4 hour quote on his ribs and watched him cry. He said it was very painful.

I have two tattoos, one on the thigh and one on the ankle, and the ankle sucked because it's on my ankle bone. I've always heard as well that foot and ribs hurt. My friend has close to twenty tattoos, and one is a huge (covers her entire side, from hip to right at her bra line) and she said it almost had her in tears, while her other tattoos didn't bother her at all.

Apparently this is different from the current answers, but I have a fairly big rib side piece and it was my least painful tattoo.. Never had top of the foot though, but I have the inner side of my foot done which did hurt. From experience, foot is worse because the skin is so thin!

I have several tattoos, including a half sleeve which didn't really hurt at all (except around the elbow, got a little ouchy there) so I am no stranger to them. My friend actually had to "tap out" while getting her side piece done. Thankfully she did go back and get it finished.

Yay! Maybe there is hope then!!!
  • Havent got a rib tattoo, but my friend has both. From being with her I would have said foot hurt her more.

Both my foot tattoos hurt like hell. One I adore, the other got a little messed up due to some medical issues I went through (extreme edema in the feet will push out relatively new tattoo ink, who knew?!) but it hurt way to bad to go have it fixed LOL. The rib piece I want is a rather special design to me, so...gonna have to suck it up I guess!

My daughter is a pro tattoo artist, i've been told ibuprofen and numbing cream(that hospitals use for children) is great for helping you tolerating the pain and don't have it done around 'that' time of the month, your skin is more sensitive ;)

Ohh, hmm, never thought about the time of month thing! Thanks!!!
