Hip Hop abs

Hi everyone. I suffer from chronic pain, and I am trying to build muscle through movement as opposed to isolated strength exercises since this seems to be a more tolerable way to do it for me, pain wise for whatever reason. I think the elliptical (with resistance) and swimming will be good long term, but wanted to add something more core focused. I was thinking of adding one of the shorter programs from Hip Hop Abs on days I am not using the elliptical or swimming. Does this sound like a good plan or could I be overworking specific muscles and/or not hitting core enough?
