Cheap ASICS in the US?

Hi all,
I'm currently visiting the US (from Australia). Back home, my podiatrist diagnosed me with overpronation, and a running store watched me on a treadmill, and recommended ASICS, specifically the GT 2000's (v2). I ended up purchasing a pair for about $140 USD, which seems to be the going rate back home. I use the shoes to walk about 3miles/6km a day, and for the most part they have kept me pain free (although if I walk more than that my feet start to hurt considerably).

We were wandering around a sketchers outlet today, and I realised that there were probably ASICS outlets here too. So, having checked that there are some in California, I was wondering if anyone here has been to one - any idea of what kind of price range I'd be looking at?

Also, are there shoe stores here that will observe you on a treadmill, and recommend shoes based on that? Any good? Alternatively, suggestions for other shoes given my overpronation?

Thanks for any advice!

I over pronate, I love asics. I've been wearing the Kayano. They're a lot cheaper if you buy last year's model on Amazon. I see Foot Locker has the Gt 2000 for $70.

Oh the Kayano look nice! Do you know what the difference between the 19 vs 20 vs 21 are - is it just the newer models? Have you ever compared them to the GT2000's?

Definitely look at last year's models to save some $$$. Normally the changes are nominal, but occasionally they'll change something big.

I overpronate as well. After a bad case of post tib tendonitis, I learned I needed a stability shoe. I got fit at a couple of running stores, bought too many running shoes (i have a problem) and did a bunch of research.

Both the Kayano and GT-2000 are stability models. The Kayano is one of their flagship premium shoes. The 21s are pretty pricey still ($160) but you can get 20s for under a $100. I've heard the 21s are a bit more stable...but not noticeably so.

I actually ended up running in Brooks Adrenaline GTS. They are the mainstream stability shoe that Brooks offers. I have a set of Kayano 20s as well (I admitted I had a problem!). They seem pretty interchangable...

If you're using them mostly for daily walks, it seems like any of them would be fine.

I road run in the Brooks Ravenna, which is a stability shoe (for overpronators) with slightly less stiffness/guidance than the Brooks Adrenaline. It is also a little cheaper. The new ones are $120, but you can find last year's colors on Zappos.com for around $90 right now.

If you want Asics in particular, DSW Shoe Warehouse (online and in-store) and Kohl's (online) stock a good range of the brand, including a lot of their lower-end/cheaper models.

Running Warehouse sells a whole menagerie of stability shoes for women, from racing shoes to crazy levels of support. Fast shipping and free returns, which might be useful to you as a visitor.

If you're looking for an online retailer for Asics, I bought mine off of Zappos. Free shipping and it looks like the GT2000 is retailing around $80.
