I just ate an 8 oz rib eye from a restaurant. Someone give me an estimate of how many cals and protein should be in it. Theres way too many options on MFP, and I have absolutely no idea which to choose.

Was it very marbelled and/or have a layer of fat around the edge? if so, did you eat it?

It wasn't that fatty compared to other steaks that I have had, although, there was a layer of fat around the edge for sure and I always eat it.

in his kind of cases I usually look in the USDA chart and from there match it with mfp options.

i might just choose 5 rib eye steak options, and then average out the cals, fat, and protein, and then choose the one that most closely represents the average

good point on the confusing / USDA part - if you google "ribeye calories" it gives you the calories on one side and macros on the other..... st the end of it - it was a steak - stak has only got good macros and calories in it ;)

I think some of the rib eye nutrition information out there assumes you eat all of the fat. In reality most people cut around a lot of it.

If you google "ribeye", it gives you the nutrition info based on the USDA info (in a less confusing way). It lists a steak (about 10oz) as 847 calories and 69g protein.

Your 8oz would be about 657 calories, 54g protein, and 50g fat.
