Taste changes during pregnancy?

I normally love vegetables all kinds from brussel sprouts to jicama love it all. However, I've noticed that my tastes have changed and now I feel like a picky 5 year old. I tried to eat some broccoli today and it tasted just awfully bitter. I couldnt stomach the carrot I was eating today because the texture was grossing me out.

I had no problems eating spaghetti w/ meat sauce, cherries, and oranges. However anything else and I'm fighting it. What is going on? I've never heard of a taste change with pregnancy besides nausea and vomiting (not having that)? Has anyone else experienced this?

I'm a bit concerned because I want to eat a varied vegetable rich diet. Maybe if I cook it that will help reduce those bitter compounds.

I craved spicy food my entire pregnancy. I avoided strawberries. It was strange, because I usually love strawberries and hate hot peppers but pregnancy does strange things to you. lol

Food aversions during pregnancy are common. Some women develop a metallic taste in their mouth that makes foods taste different. Others simply find that certain types of foods taste funny/different.

Pregnancy hormones are a power thing...they can absolutely alter your taste preferences.
