HRM's and strength training (specifically aerial)

I know, I know, this has been talked to death apparently. But did it completely break anyone else's heart to find out their heart rate monitor isn't accurately calculating calories burned during strength training?
Specifically, I was hoping to use mine to track my aerial workouts, which is a specialized, kind of doesn't-fit-into-any-single-neat-category type of activity. Strength is a huge component, but there is also an aerobic element. It's less aerobic than floor gymnastics but probably more than acro yoga. Ugh I don't know. Should I just log 200 calories for an hour workout, hope I'm underestimating rather than overestimating, and call it a day??
