I thought I was the healthiest person on earth, so did all my friends and relatives. I mountain bike 30 or more miles a few times a week, I walk for my job 10 miles a day 3 days a week. Run jog walk hike everything. I always did it until I felt my chest get tight then I would ease up. I thought that was my limit... found out I had 100% in one 97% and 2 at 85%... now I have a 9" scar on my chest and I'm working to get back in shape to mountain bike and get back to life. Dr's say my heart is small and as healthy as someone in their 20's so I am hoping I can get my life back anyone else go thru this and live a full life ?

In January 2015 I had a massive heart attack. All 4 main were 97%, 98%, 100% 100% blocked and under 12% heart function I underwent 2 heart surgeries in 8 hours. 1st they placed 4 stents. Upon placing the 4th, my artery tore and my widow maker separated. I had a balloon pace maker placed in my aorta to let my heart rest and was transported to the top heart surgeons in our region. 8 hours later I underwent open heart (CABG) a double bypass and widow maker repair.
Prior to this heart attack I had no warning signs. At 44 I was in the best physical shape I've ever been in. Gym, walking, running, 10 pounds from goal weight and a weight loss of over 40+ lbs. clean eating. Etc.
Yes, you can and will recover. It's been 6 months and my stamina is way below what I hoped for but while starting cardiac therapy this month I hope to increase day by day.
I want to get back on the bike and fire of the pavement but for now I'll take whatever I can get. It only gets better from here on out.
Here's to a wonderful 2015 and a year full of all the things you love.
