I never noticed before how much sodium some foods contain. I always thought that as long as I wasn't adding salt to my meals my sodium consumption was low.(So wrong) Since I've been tracking everything I eat I've been finding it hard to stay within my daily sodium goal......any tips?????

Yeah, cut back on fast food, canned soups, and bottled sauces. Those are the usual high-culprit foods.

Beyond that, if you make your diary public, you might get some more specific advice. Though if you don't want to do that, just look through your diary to see the foods that have the highest sodium content, and avoid those or find homemade alternatives.

    This!

I did this for my blood pressure
    So cook without salt

My high salt foods is for example chicken lol But wont cut that out.
My salt intake is in limit ( not higher than 1500 to 1600) and works perfect for me.
Healthy people can have more salt daily ( 2300mg) Aldo you read more and more the lower numbers of 1500mg daily.

But there is no scientific test/prove for that yet.

Except for the fact i function 1000x better on the lower salt intake hehehe

yeah, the canned vegetables are a big one! Try and go for frozen vegetables. Bread are high in sodium, however, I'm not a fan of avoiding it. I just watch how much of it I eat. Pickles are horrible for sodium. You'll learn by trial and error. Just log what you're about to eat before you eat it not after. That way you can change your mind if you need to once you see the nutritional information

Thanks for the tips!! I've given up most canned foods, I do use a lot of frozen veggies. I have diet frozen meals a couple times a week, and they usually have a lot of sodium in them. I got stuck on checking calories, and didnt even think to check the sodium content. I also noticed shellfish have a lot of sodium also. logging before I eat could help me to choose something that may be lower in sodium.....

Processed foods contain a lot of sodium. Cut those and you cut the sodium.
