I have a question I just got the Polar FT7 HeartRate Monitor and wanted to know the difference between "fitness" and "fat burn" modes. Which I can't help what my heart rate goes up to while I'm playing Tennis...it just happens. My total time was 107 min... average HR was 128 Max 143. Fat burn 12:20min Fitness 55:10 min burned total of 359 calories.

FATBURN
In fatburn zone, training intensity is lower, and the source of energy is mainly fat. Therefore, fat burns efficiently and your metabolism, mainly fat oxidation, increases.
FITNESS
In fitness zone, training intensity is higher and you are improving your cardiovascular fitness i.e. strengthening your heart and increasing blood circulation to muscles and lungs. The main energy source is carbohydrates.

I wouldn't worry about it. Just push your effort out.
Zone training is pretty much discredited, particularly when you're talking about a consumer grade device that's not backed up by lab testing.0 -
