I need to lose 20 pounds!

I've been trying(seriously)to lose weight for a year and all I've accomplished is gaining ten extra pounds. Words can't describe how angry and frustrated I am. First I was trying to break out of the 140's and get down to 130. I simply could not get out of the 40's. And now I'm up to 154 pounds. Working out is sometimes not possible because I have an ANS disorder. I don't know what to do.

You need to talk to your therapist about this, not strangers on the internet.0

I don't see a therapist?0

ANS disorder? So many abbreviations people use that I don't know the meaning of0

Autonomic Nervous System. Sorry, it's tiresome and hard to explain to people.0

Having just read what ANS is, I would think you wouldn't want to do anything without first consulting your doctor. That said, if you're able to live on an 1100 calorie/day intake without going nuts, I suspect you couldn't help but lose weight. It may only be 1/2 - 1 pound a week; but, perseverance will pay off. Good luck.0

Bad advice, sorry
Unless she's tiny or under medical supervision she shouldn't drop so low
What's your height, goal weight loss per week, activity level without exercise?
What's your logging like? Do you weigh food and log carefully?
Can you set your diary to public0 -
OP, I've got similar weight goals and history to you. My weight gradually crept up and I lost a bit, and now I've gained another 10lb and I'm at 152. I should be around 120 (I'm 5ft1 before anyone raises their eyebrows, and I've got a petite build). As you can see from my history, I have no magic answers; but I know that when I use mfp and my fitbit faithfully, I do loose weight - slowly, and with ups and downs, but I do. I've sent you a friend request. Good luck!0

Oh, sorry OP, I've just seen you're a 19 year old male. How tall are you? 130 is low for a guy, especially as it's possible your body might still be growing / bulking out... I'm no expert on this, but I'm sure some of the more clued up forumites will have some idea of whether your goal is apropriate for your age/gender...0

I initially lost weight for my mother. She is diabetic and she had stroke. We went to a diabetes specialist and got a special diet. I followed the diet with my mom to help her to eat better. I discovered that I felt better with less weight. Weight loss was not just cosmetic it was for health and wellness.
It is recommended to consume at least 1200 calories a day. This would not work for me because I love to eat. I need to eat what I like and feel full. There are different levels of calories that you can intake. It is about balance and consistence. Consult a doctor to make sure you are making the correct choice. Here is a website for diet recommendations at different calorie levels.

I lost 40 pounds in 2 years by keeping a 1600-2000 calorie per day diet without exercise. I ate whatever I wanted the secret was I did not allow myself to get hungry so I would not bing.
I measured my food and logged the calories on my online journal on calorie count.com.
I made sure to eat few servings of fruit, vegetables and dairy each day. Some days I judy ate proteins and greens. I am a meat eater.
I was satisfied with 200 calories for breakfast - special l protein shake or a hard boiled egg and a piece of fruit and 300 calories for lunch frozen entre and a fruit juice box. I did not feel hungry. This meant that I had 1100 calories for dinner after work. This was good because I could eat what I wanted and feel full. I drank diet soda.
Best,

Why do you want to lose weight? I'm not sure how tall you are, but your profile picture looks like you are average height and quite thin.0

Thanks. I will talk to my doctor about it I guess. I exercise when I can(every other day lately) but it's usually only 30 minutes or so. I try to get in a good mix of strength/cardio. I could be more diligent in tracking my food intake. I'm working on a healthier diet as well. I'm trying to stay at 1200 calories a day.0
