What are your views on corsets and corsetry in general? I'm not talking about fetish play corsets but actual genuine, steel-bone corsets that are meant to reduce the size of your waist and create a more curvier figure.

So for women, what do you think of other women who wear corsets and would you like to wear one?

Men, what do you think of the emphasized hourglass figure corsets/tight lacing does to a woman's body?

unless they're worn for sexy material or for something like a renaissance festival, I just feel sorry for the women wearing them.

I think they are gorgeous but not for waist training, I have read horror stories about the health risks

Why are like 50 people asking this same question every day now? Have there been new corset commercials airing?

Corsets are plenty attractive, but I only wear one for costuming, and that's rare.

I have made and worn them. They are interesting to construct, and necessary for some historical costuming. But they were anything BUT pleasant to wear. I'm so glad it's not typical these days.

I would love to invest in a good boned corset (I own a cheap one from Frederick's that I've worn for costume...but it is too big for me now). I can't see wearing it regularly for waist training purposes, but I do find the look appealing. Thing is, they don't really work well with the shape of contemporary clothes, which are not designed for such extreme curves, and are generally in fabrics too clingy to go over a corset without creating strange lumps and bumps...and wearing a corset on the outside is just too costume-y for everyday life.

I also find that corsets actually work best on bodies a bit softer than mine. When one of my curvier friends wears a corset, the results are quite dramatic, whereas I don't get the same amazing curves...I think it helps in this case to be a little squishier.
