Can you help me figure out how many calories I just burned?

Options
166 lbs
5'3
25
500 squats in 45 minutes
My heart rate was definitely above 150
Between every 100 I took a 1 minute break.
I was sweating a lot when I finished.

    Go to the exercise tab here at MFP, select Cardiovascular, scroll through the drop down menu of database exercises and select Calisthenics, vigorous effort, and enter the amount of time. Then subtract a little off the burn they give you, since MFP is notorious for overestimating calorie burns.

    Just squats, no other exercises with them?

    Nope, just squats. I was going to try to do 5000, but once I started I realized I was insane so I just did 500.

    Erm. Why?

    I mean, I like squats. But 5000?

    It just seemed like a good idea at the time.

    500 squats in 45 minutes

    166 lbs -> 75kg
    A squat is kind of like a stair -> 500 squats -> 500 stairs -> ~115m in elevation change.
    1 cal per 100kg per 1 metre climbed...

    1 * .75 * 115 -> ~90 calories burned

    Well, except that it is nothing like a stair. Or then I'd really like to see a video of you climbing up a flight of stairs... :smile:

    Its "like a stair" in that you're moving a similar mass in a similar direction.

    Which muscles you're activating is not the important bit - what matters is mass and distance.
