i just started eating a low carb diet. I'm eating vegetables fruit healthy fats and protein. I'm getting bad indigestion. Before starting this diet I would have the same thing happen if I didn't eat frequently or a lot of food. I think this was contributing to my weight gain as well as eating too much fast food and carbs. I have tried drinking more water, antiacids, and eating more frequently. None of this has ever worked. The only thing that makes it go away is to eat something like crackers or bread or a large meal. Please help with any other options to make it stop

Could it be stress related? Whenever I am under a great deal of stress, my stomach produces a ton of acid which can even cause me to develop ulcers. It really sounds like a health problem you need to discuss with your doctor, because it could be a symptom of something else.0

Thank you but no to all. I appreciate the suggestions0

How long have you had this? Could it be just a stomach bug ? If it is, it will pass...
Have you looked at adding some probiotics to your diet. Maybe your body is just not used to all that fiber, so ramp-up fruits and vegetables slowly.0 -
I think you need more carbs for bulk. Your body may adjust to low carb over time but I am guessing you need a certain number of carbs to keep things running smoothly. With some experimentation, you should be able to figure out how few carbs you can get away with. I'm a fan of balance, being a diabetic type 2 in remission. I'd never dare cut a a macro from my diet.0

If you drastically changed your diet overnight it can really effect your digestive track for a few weeks. For example raising fiber out of nowhere can cause many issues. If your body has been used to eating "simple" foods for a long time and now you've switched to eating a ton of "complex" things your system will be working overtime to compensate. I would suggest drinking a ton of water to go along with all that fiber as well as mix the fruit and veg up with good quality whole grains for different types of fiber.0

On second thought, you might try a carbohydrate with a low glycemic load. You may try a starchy vegetable like squash, rutabagas, or a dark rye bread.0

Thank you all. I'm going to try a probiotic and adding some squash. I'm having lots of success losing weight by eating low carb so I'm not going to back to eating bread and such but I appreciate all the suggestions by everyone0

Try some digestive enzymes as well, they help. But make small changes at a time, wait a week and then see how you feel. Costco is probably the cheapest place to by probiotics.0

I did just what you suggested. Thank you0

Update: heartburn is gone. It's been one week. I'm taking a probiotic and eating lots of zucchini squash. Thank you0

Thats good to hear. One more trick for heartburn; Cup of warm water and lemon first thing in the morning before you eat/drink anything else....and its cheaper than probiotics
