Pilates or 30 day shred? Anyone with results or input.

I want to switch up my workouts. I currently do zumba 2 to 3 days a week. On the off days of zumba I try to do a 40-60 minute DVD workout. I just started doing the Crunch Pilates workout on these days. I'm wondering if anyone out there does Pilates and if they are seeing results. I am also looking at starting Jillian Michaels 30 day shred. Any thoughts on her workout?

I really like the Jillian Michaels workouts personally. I haven't done her 30 day shred one but I have a couple of the others. I'm not a massive fan of gyms but I know that I should try and incorporate light weights into my workout and that's what I find I can do really easily with her workouts.

I currently teach Pilates and have also done the 30 day shred. Both are great workouts but each one works differently than the other.

Pilates deals mostly with body weight exercises, flexibility and strength training. Its low impact, floor workouts that use your body weight for resistance and is designed to produce long, lean muscles (like those of a dancer). There is equipment you can use (like a ring or the reformer machine) but for the most part you only need a mat. My most favorite quote from Joseph Pilates is “In 10 sessions, you feel better, 20 sessions you look better, 30 sessions you have a completely new body.” It true...Ive seen the results in myself and in my students.

30 Day Shred is more cardio/strength training combinations. No equipment is needed except some light weight barbells. It's designed to work several muscles at one time rather than one (think squatting while dumbbell pressing). Jillian does a great job at it and it is definitely a good workout. I've seen great results with that program as well.

So it all boils down to what you really like lol.... :)

I'd try them both....you can get a decent pilates workout or the 30 day shred workout for free on YouTube.

Thank you so much for your input. I really enjoy doing the Pilates for the simple fact that I feel amazing after a workout. I was just not sure how great of a workout it is if you are still trying to lose the fat over them muscles. I think I will encompass both into my daily routine.
