How do I get motivated to start walking every day for 30 mins, and continue for another 30 of some sort of workout plan. I have no friends to workout with that will help me get motivated...

motivation is fleeting. Schedule it in your planner like a meeting, and hold yourself to it.

podcasts on an mp3 player are a great thing, if you get bored

If you're getting bored, try gamification.

Zombies Run is a fantastic app which will motivate you to work out daily.

Find whatever works. None of my friends would work out with me. One time I did find a friend to work out with and it was awful. She would want us to skip a lot and I just went back to doing it along.

Start small and increase. Don't look at the end picture, just focus on what you are currently doing.

At first I used bribes for myself. So many workouts and I could get my nails done, buy myself an ipod, etc.

And then after time it became part of my life and missing it makes me miserable!

    good luck!

    Motivation is very personal.

For me, I started doing some phys as an adjunct to losing weight, and started a structured plan; C25K. Once I'd started the motivation became completing the plan. By the time I'd finished that I moved onto a 10K plan, then a half marathon plan.

Before the C25K plan finished I'd realised that actually weight loss per se wasn't what I was interested in, running was in and of itself enjoyable.

I prefer to walk alone and listen to some good music while I'm out and about. My motivation is that moving gives me more calories, its good for us and my legs/glutes have never looked better :)
As others have said, start small and work your way up to longer walks, theres nothing nicer than getting outdoors for a walk, it makes us feel better about ourselves and uplifts us :)
and if you don't want to go outdoors, try a walking workout, loads on youtube, try Lesley Sansone Walk away the Pounds/Miles and Jessica Smith e.g.
