    hmmm...I don't really lower mine. I'm a sodium monster.

3500+mg sodium yesterday lol. I also don't really monitor mine too much. I'm aware of it thouhg, but I don't make sure I'm always under my goal. I got a bit of a headache lat night from it though but otherwise meh.

eating as "fresh" as possible is really the only way to stay under consistently, I've found. Nothing canned, pre-cooked/made, etc.

Honestly, sodium issues don't typically arise from simply salting your own foods unless you're like my wife and just like everything to taste like frackin' salt instead of food so you just dump it in by the Tbsp full.

Generally speaking the real culprit is processed foods.

I watch my sodium intake as I have hypertension and I still cook with salt...and a lot of other spices too. Actually, it's really interesting when you get used to actually tasting your food instead of just a *kitten* ton of salt. I almost gag now when I eat out, even at a higher end restaurant...everything just tastes like salt...I want to taste the food.
