Hi all struggled to get concept of last post over n made it difficult for for ppl to read
OKiI struggle to pick healthy food in times of craving or binge eating growing up from age of 8 ish I had to fend for myself as my parents worked 7 days 5 nights the other 2 nights they went out so just used to eat rubbish n quick snacks crisps smacks sweets take away so when not following a perticular diet eg slimming world I resort this way I can be really good n sensible but then I eat 1 bad thing n seem to be unable to stop

Ah, but you CAN stop. i sat here and tried and tried to find a nicer way to say this, but I cant honestly think of one. It comes down to willpower and self discipline. You can stop yourself from eating those foods in excess. You have complete control over what you choose to put in your body. If you tend to eat certain foods in excess, then maybe try not eating them at all. (That wouldn't be my first suggestion, my first suggestion would be to just eat them in smaller portions, but the way you worded this makes it sound like you feel you don't have the willpower to do that. You can, you just have to work at it)0

I agree with the post above. You are the only one that can control what you eat. You have to look within to find the strength. Set a good example for your child to prevent her from facing this same situation when she is an adult.
You CAN do this. It won't always be easy and you will have bad days. Days you wish you could undo. But you can't, so you just pick yourself up and move on. This is how we get better.

It is about learning to trust yourself and your body.
Read some books by Geenen Roth. And do some yoga or tai chi or deep breathing so you can get in touch with your body.

In your other post you stated that you don't know what to eat. This forum is not the best place to educate as to nutrition but here are a few tips:
If it comes in a box it isn't likely to be the best choice in foods. Shop the perimeter of the grocery store. Have you noticed that the produce, meat, and dairy are around the perimeter? Most (but not all) the unhealthy food is in the aisles of the store.0 -
Can you try to use punctuation, capitalization and what not? I find it very difficult to follow what you're trying to say, again.0

Cravings have both a physiological and psychological basis. Sometimes willpower alone is not enough. Many doctors urge people to simply try to hesitate, hold off and BREATHE! The person that assigns failure to anyone or anything but themselves is destined to fail.
I gained 15 lbs over the past 4 months. It wasn't because of the holidays or because I was sick or because things have been a bit nerve wracking on the earnings side of our household or because some higher calorie foods taste better and are easy to prepare. It's because I put more food in my mouth than I should have.0 -

While I agree her books are awesome! And a definite read, it does take self control and will power even to implement her methods. There's effort involved even in that. You have to have the self control to stop yourself and ask why you are doing the eating. It still boils down to self control and willpower. The ways we get there are all very different, but until we say "I am going to make a change" and actually make an effort to implement it, nothing changes.

It takes will to follow through and build new habits.
