when I input strawberries into my food diary it says '1 cup halves', does that mean I put strawberries into a measuring cup or should I weigh them?

and what about granola? serving size says 1/2 cup, do I put it in a measuring cup too?

I generally eyeball stuff, but on some higher calorie items I measure the first few times to get an idea of what that serving looks like. In the end a few calories more isn't the end of the world (plus, it's impossible to be 100% accurate when eating out for example). Once you know what a serving size looks like on your dishes then it is pretty easy to guestimate fairly accurately!

I measure everything in a cup for the most part; somethings are better weighed in ounces. Get yourself a food scale ($5 at Wal-Mart), and use it for the foods that don't really fit into the measuring cup.

I measured at first to get an idea of what that looked like. Also, if it's a new food for me, I might measure it a few times to get a feel for what a serving looks like. It's very easy to misjudge. But, it can also be easy (for me anyway) to get carried away with measuring and counting and lose the enjoyment of eating.

Once you start measuring and you see how much it is on a cup or plate you get an idea of what you are consuming. I have a food/calorie scale and measuring cups at home that I deff use when I'm not in a rush  i think one cup of strawberry halves equal about 4-5 strawberries all depending on how big they are.

Check all of the input for fresh strawberries. There is one that has info per berry and size.

I still always measure my food.. ALWAYS! I have my measuring cups and I do it.. About the strawberries, they do have single strawberries in the drop down menu.. So if you eat 3 medium strawberries, you can put it in there like that.. Always check the drop down menu for fruits and stuff, they will usually (not all the time) have the whole fruit/veg in there.

thanks everyone. I usually eyeball everything if I've measured it previously. I do have a food scale but its kinda confusing so I think Im gonna get a digital scale just to be sure.

I weigh things on my digital kitchen scale. Usually in grams. I find that, when using measuring cups with solids, little air pockets make it inaccurate, and with liquids it is less waste to measure it right into the bowl while it is on the scale. :)

I use my measuring cups when I am in a hurry but since I have bought my food scale I weigh my food instead. On some occasions I have found that weighing the foods allows me a little bit more food than a measuring cup would...so now I try to use my scale as often as possible.

I just find the food in the weights-grams, ounces etc and log them in that way

I have a WW scale that does grams and ounces.

I bought some measuring cups that have a little pooring spout on the edge.

I fill the cup size with milk in the morning for my coffee.

They are from betty crocker and are adorable.
