I am going to be away from a gym for 4 weeks!! I don't even know what I am going to do because I go to the gym everyday... I know I can do things like go on walks and swim, but I was thinking of purchasing a workout dvd to take with me. What do you think is the best workout DVD it can be for cardio/strength training or both. I won't have much equipment to work with--but of course I can go pick up some dumbells at walmart if I need to. I don't want to be spending too much (i.e. over $20)

So best workout DVDS that are affordable....GO!

Will you have access to the internet? Or could you download some videos before you go? I am away from my gym for two weeks and have been using videos I downloaded for free off of youtube. My favorite are the Jillian ones listed below but I also use bootcamp/kickboxing/weight training(I was able to bring a set of dumbbells) that I found by searching on youtube. I actually made a schedule up for a week and am repeating it this week(this is my 2nd week away from the gym). I think I'm actually getting more of a workout then at the gym. I plan on continuing some Jillian when I get home.

Several of the Jillian videos involve some weight. Depending on your level, you might need to buy a set of 5lb weights. If that is too much, maybe just use water bottles or something like that. Since I had a set of dumbbells collecting dust in the garage and since I traveled by car, I brought several sets of dumbbells(5,8,10 and 12) and switch back and forth as needed. I have been doing some weight training for a few months so if its new to you, 5lbs will probably be perfect.

    Jillian Michaels 30DS
    Jillian Kickboxing
    Jillian 6 pk abs
Jillian No More Trouble Zones(Circuits 1-7)
    Jillian Banish Fat Boost Metabolism

There are more Jillian videos out there but the ones above are available for free on Youtube.

You could do Jillian Michaels' 30 day slim down

It's a rotation suposedly created by Jillian ( although I cant find the original source). It consists of the 30DS, No More Trouble Zones, and Burn Fat/Boost Metabolism.

N.B. 'Quick Trouble Zones' is the standing part of 'No More Trouble Zones'.

Here is what the program looks like

    DAY 1 - 30 DAY SHRED: LEVEL 1
    DAY 2 - 30 DAY SHRED: LEVEL 1
DAY 3 - NO MORE TROUBLE ZONES
    DAY 4 - 30 DAY SHRED: LEVEL 1
DAY 5 - BANISH FAT, BOOST METABOLISM
DAY 6 - QUICK TROUBLE ZONES
    DAY 7 - OFF!
    DAY 8 - 30 DAY SHRED: LEVEL 1
    DAY 9 - 30 DAY SHRED: LEVEL 2
DAY 10 - QUICK TROUBLE ZONES

    DAY 11 - 30 DAY SHRED: LEVEL 2
DAY 12 - BANISH FAST, BOOST METABOLISM
DAY 13 - NO MORE TROUBLE ZONES
    DAY 14 - OFF!
    DAY 15 - 30 DAY SHRED: LEVEL 1 & QUICK TROUBLE ZONES
    DAY 16 - 30 DAY SHRED: LEVEL 2
DAY 17 - NO MORE TROUBLE ZONES
