So i started my new job at the beginning of December as a housekeeper at a hotel that is still short staffed and just realized Im almost under 200 lbs. After wearing my Fitbit for a week (10,000 steps easy), I decided to try out wearing my HRM for a full 24 hours to see just how much of a workout Im getting.

Results: 15 hours in I've apparently burned 4629.

Actually seeing the results pop out of seemingly nowhere (I actually have arm muscles! And the 3rd floor walk up to my apartment doesnt hike me to 170some BPM.) is really encouraging. :)

I was wondering if I should put my activity level as Active or Very Active. Today was relatively tame at work, most days are a lot busier so I probably burn more.

HRMs are neither designed nor programmed for all day calculation. The number you got is highly inflated.

Heart rate monitors don't work like that! They are only good for steady state cardio. If your job is more demanding now, that should be reflected in your settings here: sedentary, etc.

Put your activity as active but if you are losing weight too quickly push it up to very active but vice versa if your weight loss stalls.

And what above posters say regarding HRM are facts.

Yes change you activity to active and see how it goes. Housekeeping is hard work, you sweat! Yeah HRM are gauged to a certain activity like running, cycling, etc. unless it has settings for different activities, which most don't. Like others said it's not engineered for that.
