I'm in my second rotation of p90x3 and I don't know why I didn't notice it the first time, but the first month contains no weighted lower body exercises. Did anyone else modify to add lower body exercises? What did you do? Why do you think they've left it out?

To hazard a guess as to why--ALL the P90X3 workouts are weight bearing and stress your leg muscles, bones, and tendons. It's a lot of pounding even with just bodyweight, especially for someone just starting out with weight-bearing exercise or aerobics. Think about all the jumping in Agility or CVX. Avoiding weights for month 1 gives your body time to adapt, with the goal of preventing injuries.

I've been pretty impressed with P90X3 on that point (reducing injury risk), actually--the warmup alone (e.g. on MMX) is a great example of working in dynamic stretching and strengthening of little hip girdle muscles that help protect lower joints and muscles from overuse/repetitive motion injuries.

ETA: I've never done the program straight through, just added in individual workouts when I'm stuck at home. So no advice on what to do re: leg weights.
