Confused about calorie Intake!!

after lurking here for about an yr and half and losing about 30kgs...

Now am stuck....

I Want to take it to another level, so am planning to start Jim Stoppani's 6week Shortcut to shred..

my current weight is 90kg..(86 lowest)

I have improper diet, eat only once or twice a day...

so gonna pickup his diet of 6-8meals a day...

my main concern is if i want to lose fat (weight is optional, though i wanna be lean and not bulky)

each of his diet is of 2k-3k calories....

Isnt losing fat is cutting back on calories so we lose it?... please explain how will taking more calorie will help shedding??

Also am gonna do his workout as well...what can i expect from his workout at the end of 6 week? if i be full dedicated?? right now my BF is 28% and fat is 23kg

Weight is 90kgs..
height is 178cm
Age is 19
