I've been looking at the nutrition menu and wow kind of scary - the steak looks like it might be my best bet right now.

What do you feel like eating? One meal isn't going to ruin everything -maybe eat some, take some home, and do a bit of extra exercise.

They have a 2 for [$35 or maybe other depending where you live] deal. You can pick the 7 oz steak from it and veggies and mashed potatoes (or maybe something else). I find I can usually fit it in my goals for the day nicely (sometimes I take the potatoes home). It comes with an appetizer. A few cheese sticks are good. It comes with 8, so you could have 3 and then your partner could have 5. Easier to control than the chip options. Or do they have an app that is unbreaded shrimp? That should be a good option.

ETA: Oh, hah, that's what you were thinking already!

That sounds like a plan - I really wanted the club sandwich but once I saw the calorie count - maybe not. But I love steak and a baked potato is within reason with a veggie. I love it when I have already done the research and know what I am going to feel good eating. I would feel good eating the sandwich now but not later I am sure. And melaniecheeks you are right, one meal won't hurt but I also know that once I get home I will be back sitting at my computer trying to get a paper done that is due tomorrow so I am pretty sure getting on the treadmill won't happen :) I will post my final meal when I get back home and we will see how my willpower works out lol

I don't have any suggestions, but... If you do go over, don't freak out. One day won't kill ALL of your progress. Enjoy your lunch and your company!! That's more important.

Rice might be another option instead of potatoes, if you tend to find rice more filling.

I won't freak out .... unless my husband does not hurry up and get his lazy behind out of bed ... I'm hungry!! And lasmartchika you are absolutely right - my husband has been a wonderful help in my journey and he likes it even better that we are eating better than ever. Well unless he cheats ... his willpower is much lower than mine.

If it were me, I'd just get what I really wanted, log the calories, whether I go over or not and then move on from it the next day. Eating out like that is usually far and few between, and in the grand scheme of things, will have little impact on your progress... so long as you get right back to it.

Yesterday I went to Cheesecake Factory for my Valentine's Day meal. I ordered a 590 calorie meal from the skinnylicious menu and then I had a (nearly) 1200 calorie slice of Cheesecake. lol. It was great :) I'll be back to normal food eating tomorrow (cause you know, chocolate!!!).

Ahhhh Cheesecake Factory - I am so glad we don't have one close by but you are right, one meal won't kill me and now I want dessert too :) It's gonna be a good day and I have a week to work it off right?

    +1

You rarely eat out. Go. Have the club sandwich. Even if you end up above your maintenance, you're not going to wreck your weekly deficit.

You know about sodium-induced water weight, though, right? Just so we don't end up with an oh-my-goodness-I-ordered-the-fries-last-night-and-I'm-three-pounds-heavier thread :)

I did - thank you. The company was great, my husband of 26 years and the food was awesome. We started with the appetizer sampler and I ended up ordering the steak with Parmesan shrimp and mashed potatoes and I could only eat half of it! Thankfully the thought of dessert was not even appealing but I had a wonderful time, used all my calories and went way over on my sodium but who cares - tomorrow is another day :)
