How do I stop?

I was recently layed off from my job and am looking for a new one in my field. This past week was my first week of not working. I found myself "snacking" all day long. Since the dollar store and grocery store are a 10 minute walk away, I was there almost every day this past week. I am home all day long. How do I stop myself from eating all day? What do I do when the discouragement of not working causes me to eat? I don't want to be putting the weight back on! (Since the scales have been creeping back ever since it came to the point I would be leaving my job.) Mind you the gym is also a 10 minute walk away. Going to the gym and trying NOT to find a reason to go into the stores that are right there after, isn't easy. (Never mind the fact that the money in my account has to last me until my EI kicks in, which will be significantly less that my normal income. I need a new job!)

Would it work to put your self on a schedule as if you were working? You could even set an alarm so you only eat during the times that are normal for you.0

I'm actually laid off right now too. (Voluntary layoff from late December to April 1st). I'm actually doing amazing while I'm off since I have all the time to eat at scheduled times and workout. I have my breakfast, 20 minutes on treadmill, 20 minutes bo staff training, and 20 minutes weighted hula hoop. Then it's time for my little salad and another cup of coffee. I'll either read or do some craft, or my running around, then when I come home I do my insanity challenge dvd. I eat lunch, watch a movie for movie night, have my dinner, watch another movie/ play a game, and then it's time for my tea and soon bed.
My job, I work outside 16 hours a day/ 6 days a week, so I have a hard time fitting in exercising, or even eating when I want. Take up a new physical activity to learn. Mine was bo staff and its really fun.0 -
I distract myself with random things - this message board, cleaning my inbox, cleaning the house, organizing things in the back of drawers.0

I second putting yourself on a schedule. Also, go to the gym, get sweaty don't go to the store right after you are all wet and stinky. Go home take a shower make yourself something healthy to eat. Take this time to better yourself, kick some butt at the gym!!!0
