Serving size in a recipie

I made homemade chili tonight. I entered all the ingredients from allrecipies.com along with the servings and MFP came up with calories per serving, but how do I know what a serving is? Is there a way to figure this out?

There are multiple ways to do it, but I usually just weigh the entire recipe (minus the pot) and divide it by number of servings.0

I weigh the entire recipe in grams and say that it's that many servings. For example, if the entire recipe weighed 1200 grams, I would say the recipe had 1200 servings. Then I would weigh what I put on my plate (let's say 400 gr), and say that's how many servings I was having.0

Lauren & Allonsy are right. I usually weigh the whole dish and calculate the calories per gram. When I eat, I weigh again and calculate the calories. For recipes, serving size is very inaccurate.0
