Before I go out tonight, I wanted to sit down for a second and just process everything. About a year ago, my friend started talking about wanting to run the Spartan Sprint. He wasn’t able to do it last year. He and I talked about running it together this year. It isn't something I had ever heard of before he wanted to run the race.
I found this site I found earlier in the summer before I set out to lose weight with my daughter the summer before she started high school. I didn't finish it. Actually I gained another 8 pounds after we had given in. I don't remember why we stopped... but back November 2013, I had went to the ER because of some really bad head aches and it was at the follow up from that visit that my Dr ran some tests and I got a call I never expected to get at my age. He called me and basically told me that I had non alcoholic liver disease and that I had had it for a number of years and it what had caused some of the other health issues I have. He told me there was nothing he could do to help me and my only chance for survival would be to lose weight. Needless to say, it was a real eye opener. I did pretty good for a while. I had lost 77 pounds as of this past July.
My youngest son is an amputee and it was around July that we learned one of his bones was growing abnormally and he had to have surgery. (He is doing well now.) But with that and other things in life happening and sidetracking me, I gained back about 18 pounds. About a week ago, I made a pact with a close friend that we would run the race this year and we signed up for the race. So as of this past Sunday, we embarked on a 12 week challenge to prepare for the race. (It actually is 11 weeks from tomorrow.) I decided that if I was going to do this challenge, I am going to give it my all and see how much transformation I can have in 12 weeks.
I have yet to try a burpee, lol which is the only way to bypass an obstacle in the race, (well you have to do 30 burpees actually, lol). So starting tomorrow I will do 30 burpees a day and add 30 to it until the end of our twelve week challenge. For the ab exercises, I will add 25-50 a week to that number, I haven't decided yet, but I will by tomorrow. For the weights, I am thinking I will alternate arms and legs every day and each week go up one. I am doing the machines since I don't know the proper form for free weights so that will be going up 15 pounds a week, as tolerated. As far as cardio, I am not sure what my strategy is going to be still working on that, but starting next week, it will be at least an hour of cardio a day (this week I have done between 30-53 minutes a day). As far as getting the most out of these twelve weeks should I get cardio in at least twice a day? I don't know yet... but that's what I am working on in the short term at least.
Anyways, his sister suggested I try this app and when I went to try it, I found that I had signed up for it way back in May of 2013, lol... So here I am...
What are your goals, short term long term fitness and health wise?
