Unintentional bulking?

Hi! I am 5'9" or so and around 125 pounds. I am moderately active (running 30 minutes or so a day). My calorie goal is set at 1,600 to maintain my current weight but always eat upwards of 2,500! I have been gaining weight over the past few months (unintentionally... just because I eat so much!) and I hate it. I see others on here eating 2,500-3,000 and maintaining their weight and I just really wish I could. I don't know if it is my metabolism that is slow? But I really do not want to be gaining! I don't know what to do or how to get over this pattern of overeating...

Eating clean. Like proteins and vegetables. I have to take in 4000 calories a day to add weight. You want to try and eat clean, less fat and carbs and more lean protein and veggies0

If you read what you posted, you have your answer, you eat more calories, your going to gain weight, tell you the actual truth your under weight as well, your ideal weight for your height should be around 145-165 somewhere in there. So hope that helps.0 -

Calorie goal of 1600 but usually eats >2500? Is that binge eating?
This is not my area of expertise but perhaps it would do you some good to put on some weight. Not suggesting you get fat, suggesting you actually bulk in the proper way that the knowledgeable people here can help you with.
If that's the case, then maybe he needs some professional help. Not trying to offend but eating disorders are no laughing matter. If Ms. Stew is right, might be wise to talk to someone.0 -
You gain if you eat more than 1,600 as you weigh so little. People who maintain on 2,500 - 3,000 weigh more.
Honestly, I would seek professional help. Not saying that to be mean, but you are underweight.0 -
Gain weight at 1600 whilst running 30 mins a day? I weigh 127 and have to eat more than 2100 to gain weight.
Either OP is calculating his calories wrong or something.0 -
The reason you can't maintain a 1600 calorie diet is because your body is literally breaking down the doors of your brain and demanding to be fed. 1500 is the minimum amount of calories that are sometimes prescribed to men looking to LOSE weight. If you are maintaining at 1600 you are definitely underweight. By the look of you you have very little muscle. Eat healthy protein. Lift. I guarantee you it will do more for your body than trying to stick to a 1600 calorie diet.0
