Nighttime activities that don't involve food or drinks

I've noticed lately that my biggest downfall in my lifestyle change is having to cut back a lot on going out at night. I only have less than two months left living abroad and of course want to go out, have an active social life like I used to, and do interesting things. However, almost all nighttime activities involve food (dinners, cafes, etc) or drinks (bars, clubs).

Activities I can do alone as well would be great because I go out alone a lot as well so things like bowling are pretty much out. I typically like things I can do either alone or with other people, and love going to bars and cafes and talking to different types of people but too much of that is what caused me to gain weight in the first place.

I love going out but also want to lose weight at the same time. So what do you guys do when you go out that doesn't involve consuming calories?

Daytime suggestions are more than welcome too.

I found things like special museum exhibits at night, wokring out at night ( like a dance class or special yoga class0 or join an activity that you enjoy doing . For me, it was singing in a choir and playing my french horn in my church orchestra. If you like learning , sign up for getting a degree at night or join a community continueing education program. All of those things give you the opportunity to interact and get to know people and the focus is not on eating.

It is also fun to volunteer to help out a charity of your choice. Even if it is just walking dogs for a dog shelter, you get to meet some really nice people.

When I go out with my friends, I don't not eat or drink. Admittedly I don't really drink alcohol so that helps but when we go out to eat I allow myself to do so and do my best to log the calories (I wouldn't do it every day though).

I don't know what the situ is like in Japan but in the UK a lot of restaurants have calorie information available on their websites and so I try to plan in advance what to eat before I get there.

    Hi Leanne,

Bike ride, play pool at a pool hall, arcade, watch a movie at a movie theater, comedy clubs, join Meetup groups, Barnes and Nobles, & geo-cache are some items that come to mind. I am personally a fan of Meetup groups as you can find things to do based on your interest while meeting new people.

    Hope this helps.

I would go to concerts... Yes, they often are held at restaurants or cafes or nightclubs, but I feel it's much easier not to eat or drink when a concert is going on, and even if i do eat or drink, I often will burn many calories dancing or moshing or even just doing the stand up sit down as people run to the bar/concession stand/bathroom constantly.

A lot of places locally here have walking or running groups. I've not participated in one myself, but it's just a suggestion!
