New to daily weighing, need support

After years of weight fluctuations, I began weighing myself every day in an effort to keep me from the whole black and white, on a diet/bingeing attitude. Seems to be working for me, down 8.6 in 5 weeks. I sort of track weekly. This week my weekly weight is the same as last week. However, if I average my weight I am down 1.7. Anyone else take an average ? Am I wrong to be excited about the change in the average or am I justifying?

You are looking at it the exact right way! Don't focus on the day to day because our weight bounces all over the place due to water retention and shedding. A weekly average is the right way to look at it and you are doing great!0
