Hip problem

So, last night for my walk, I stretched quite well, then started at a jog. I jogged (with a jogging stroller and a 25 lb baby girl sitting in it) for 5 minutes, walked for about 14, jogged for another 4 minutes then walked for another 23 (that doesn't completely add up, but it is close enough). After this, my hip was REALLY hurting! It feels like it needs to pop, or something like that. You know what I mean? I stretch well before I jog, I have had a problem with my hip for a while though. I was seeing a chiropractor, but stopped going because he wanted me to stop working out altogether... UM NO! Any ideas on this? What am I doing wrong? I am trying to build up how long/far I can run slowly. Is there a way to "stretch" your hip? LOL! I am lost on this...
