Okay I hate you guys....13 (YES, I did). Why do I need to know this?

bahaha. You did it. I thought you'd remain strong.

A lot of people track their neck measurement.

Well, I have a tiny neck...and since mine is the same size as the OP's, I'm gonna say not to worry about that one! I've lost nearly 30lbs, and I'm near my goal. It's unlikely it will get any tinier than that.

Great, now this thread makes me want to measure my neck.
    Why?

Everyone else was doing it. And I got curious. :(

The neck is the gateway measurement. Do it once and it's hard to stop. Then you start measuring hips and waist and before long it's your wrists and forearms.

    Oh my god...you're right....must...resist...measuring...big toe....

Lol. Hey, if my fingers got smaller I guess it's possibly big toe shrank?

10 pound loss with three inches off the waist is NICE work/good luck :)

Seriously. I'm kind of jealous :(:)

I lost 27 pounds and only saw 2 inches lost from waist! wahh.

You have a nice inward curving waist though. I'm down 54 lbs. and 5.5 inches and still barely have a waist indentation. Apple shaped blues.

Hi everyone: Since I started MFP this past October, I've lost 10 pounds, which is great. I have lost 3" off my waist, 2.5" off my hips and ~2" off my chest (read: boobs)...however, my neck measurement started off at 12" and it hasn't budged an inch. Could it be that I'm measuring it at the wrong part of the neck? Or is it too early to notice a change in neck measurements?

I'd appreciate any insight you have. Thanks!

You're doing awesome, keep up the great work!

Apparently weight loss has the opposite effect, by removing the surrounding fat ;)

Yaya. I needed to see it go from my hips more anyways. Dat pear shape.

Everybody loses differently so there's no standard rate of loss for any body part. Plus, your neck is pretty small already so you might not have much to lose there.

Sounds good. So 12" = "slender," huh? Never knew that. Anyone know what's the upper limit of "acceptable" re: neck measurements?

Nada; whatever works best for you! We have the same size neck (I measured mine because of this thread), and mine is already pretty small. No need to worry about that measurement. :)

For what it's worth..I have always measured my neck (for those online body calculator thingies)...regardless of when I was thin, well within the range for my weight and didnt realize it (I was so young lol) and 60lbs heavier than that at my highest... the size of my neck has always been between 13 to 13.5 inches. Never less or more... Its just not a place I gain or lose any weight from, might be the same thing going on with you.

Ha! I can't believe you bumped this today. I'm not the op but I did my monthly measurements and comparison this morning and it made me think of this thread. My neck was down a quarter of an inch.

Funny. And look at that your neck is smaller! I didn't write mine down but I think it's in the thread. Gonna check.

i measure every part of me LOLOLOL - calves, thigh, hips, waist, bust, neck, arm and i think im forgetting something but am only on cup #1 of coffee so my brain isn't functioning yet LOL

10 pounds isnt a lot, you're obviously losing it other places, just maybe not your face/neck yet (i dont recall if you said how much you weigh/ need to lose/ whatever). I've lost 23 pounds and its all from the upper half of my body - my lower half hasnt budged enough to make a size difference yet. (wish it would! LOL!)

itll come off (for you and me) when its ready to. ;)

Isn't neck measurement one of the body frame questions - eg you don't put on much / lose much around the neck?

    Or have I gone mad

Mine is long, graceful and 14" if it helps (you'll have to take my word for it ) and hasn't changed at all

I've never measured my neck before coming to MFP, but recently I learned that I have a 13 inch neck. Last year, when I started out, it was 16 inches. I'm a 5'1" woman, so I don't know if that's "acceptable" or not, but it seems to work for me. In contrast to that 3 inches I've lost around my neck, I've also lost 6.5 inches from around my waist and 9.5 inches from around my hips. I would have liked to switch the hips and waist measurements, but as people said--you get what you get!

It always struck me as a bit strange that MFP has a spot to track neck measurements. Mine never changes.

My neck is 14.5...same as it was 14 lbs ago.
Some people do get very fat necks so I can see why it's included as a measurement.

From my fittest days in the service.....my neck taped out at 18.5" and 100lb heavier at 19.25" not a lot of fluctuation.
