Hello,

I feel like I've finally managed to get myself into exercise and if anything I've probably become addicted to working out.

I'm starting to see gains but I know for sure if my diet was better I would be seeing much better results.

I'm desperately seeking diet tips and meal/snack ideas. Preferably cheaper price ideas but just any tips and ideas would be greatly received.

Thanks
Sam

Sam, start out by taking an objective look back through your diary. Do you see any logging trends that need correcting? Are there things you're eating on a regular basis that are high in calories and low in nutrition you could exchange for something "better"? Are you drinking calories (high calorie sodas, alcohol, etc.) that you could eliminate?

What to eat and when to eat it are entirely up to you. Personally, I find that three smaller meals and two or three snacks during the day work for me. My snacks are usually things like string cheese, veggie sticks or a piece of fruit; something fairly low calorie that will tide me over for an hour or two until my next meal. I try to keep my protein intake for the day around 100 grams and my carbs fewer than that but that's me.

    What goals?

    Lose weight?

    Gain strength?

    Gain fitness?

Kind of hard to advise without knowing what you are wanting to accomplish.

    Thanks guys!

I'm currently trying to gain strength and have started to do lifting at the gym: I don't three spin classes a week to get some cardio in and also do karate twice a week!!

Someone once told me, fitness results are 20% exercise and 80% diet. And, 73% of all statistics are made up on the spot. But, I tend to agree. I can exercise and eat like crap and won't lose weight. On the other hand, I can eat healthy, do the math to make sure I'm eating at a deficit without working out, and I will lose weight. Obviously, results are better if you do both.

You'll want some high protein snacks between your regular meals. If you like Greek yogurt, it's a good option with some fruit for fiber and flavor. Raw nuts like almonds give you healthy fat, fiber, and protein.
