'Impossible' exercises

To be clear, I'm sure that if I practiced hard I could do those moves, just like the majority of prior posters could do their problem exercises if they worked long and hard enough. I simply have no interest in mastering those kinds of moves, much like I have no interest in dancing, so I don't work on developing the coordination to do them.
I am notoriously uncoordinated, but even I think that sounds like you're just making excuses.0 -

Try doing reverse lunges. Guessing you are getting your knee too far out past your toes on the regular lunges if you are squatting pain free.

Still can't do a dragonflag. May not ever, but I'll keep working on it.

Yes, I am secretly dying to be able to hop sideways and then jump in the air. It pains me so much that I can't do it that rather than practice it daily I'm pretending that it's not my deepest desire.
Give me a break.0 -

but.....i thought the point of the thread was for people to share things they wanted to do, but currently find impossible?
i mean, if we're just listing off stuff that we don't do because we don't care to do it, this thread is gonna be longer than those Date Me-Rate Me threads in Chit Chat, ain't it? but hey, i'll play. i find breathing in outer space impossible.0 -
Straight arm planks are impossible (though I can grit my teeth through a regular, bent-arm plank). I also cannot do scissor kick things (when you lay on your back and raise your feet 6-12 inches and criss-cross them side to side) because it absolutely kills my hip flexors. It's the only "good for me" ab workout that I 100% refuse to do.0

Lunges. I just topple over. (Poor balance due to an inner ear dysfunction.)
Pull-ups. But I'll get there eventually... those I can work on.
Not a fan of high planks because they cause a lot of wrist pain, so I actually prefer renegade rows.0 -
Try wall push ups. As you get stronger find lower and lower levels until your hands are on the floor. Remember to brace your core as you lower and press up.
Similar for chin ups. Pack your shoulders, tighten your core and pull your elbows down to your sides. Sometimes those cues help visualize what muscles you need to engage.
For lunges try stepping back instead of forward. Work on your balance before working on strength.
Regarding chin ups, I think I could do them eventually, but the only appropriate equipment is at the gym and I'm not sure I'm ready for 20 buff men to watch me struggling. One day though...

One day I'd like to be able to a pull-up. I just think people look cool doing them. When I eventually can do one it'll probably be a massive anti climax. I have almost zero upper body strength so it's a remote dream at the moment, but then I remember the days when squats/running 5K/doing a handstand felt impossible, and I've managed to do all those things since then, so I'm sure I'll get there in the end.0

Well, you don't have to, just like I hope I never get asked to run more than three strides to the bus. No one's great at everything.
But coordination, balance, and agility are kind of important for more than just funsies (or not-funsies). All these will matter more the older you get:
Benefits of Agility, Balance and Coordination Training
Help improve efficiency of movement.
Improve overall body awareness during movement
Decrease risk of injury
Improve rehabilitation
Improve posture
Improve ability to perform recreational and competitive activities
Improve ability to perform activities of daily living and therefore improve quality of life.
Makes exercise more functional.

Dance can even improve the motor function people with Parkinson's, for example.

The strength training I do is pretty modified, and a good chunk of my motivation is vanity, but an equal chunk is the motivation for my skeleton to hang together better. We have to think about this stuff in that way.0 -

The last time I did them I said to myself "I will leave this gym before I do another set". And I haven't done them since.
They're ok with light weights but when you use a weight that is challenging, it can become a bit scary as you can topple over.
