Just joined an hour ago. Learning the 'ropes' of MFP. Entered my exercise from this morning, and my food log so far. I figure if I am going to do this - I need to DO it. So here I am writing an introduction... I am 51 years old. Married, 2 kids, a dog, a ferret, and LOADS of stress. (death of loved ones, illnesses, my husband fell off a ladder and broke his neck & wrist, {he is ok now, thank God) my daughter severely depressed - nuff said.)
Of course, as fate would have it, I am a emotional eater. Figures... almost wish I could be one of those people that don't eat when their stressed... Yeah, yeah, I know. The grass is always greener on the other side. Water your own grass - I know, I KNOW.
I've tried on my own to loose weight, but no sooner do I loose a few pounds I gain it back and then some. I am at my heaviest ever. Even over when I was pregnant. (SO disappointed with myself... can't even believe this is 'me!') If I could afford it I would probably do one of those pre-made meal programs - but I know they are not really healthy. (And between my husband and daughters medical bills, I am pinching pennies.)
I have 101.5 pounds to loose. I really do not see that happening - and I have to ignore that mindset. So, as to not overwhelm myself to the point of giving up before I start, I am shooting for 10 pounds. Or 2 pounds a weeks. Or anything that points in the right direction....
I thought keeping a log would be helpful. Then I saw this Message Board. (If you haven't noticed I process things by writing. That works for me, since I LOVE to write.) Sooooo.... I thought. This might be a way to navigate out of this 'fat suit.'
I'm not sure if this was the type of introduction MFP expects - probably too much information - or too wordy... (sorry if so) But this is me. I'm here. I'm giving myself credit for that. It's a step in the right direction.

It sounds like you have decided to change things up in your life - and hopefully see positive results. I can tell you that this website/app has really helped me to keep track of my eating and activity. I have never been able to lose weight and keep it off - but this time has been very different.
I have so much confidence that as I lose weight and my clothes no longer fit, I am giving them to goodwill!! I hope you have support and people who will come alongside and help you along the way. So far it has been a wonderful journey!!0 -
Hi Datarn. That sounds great! I hope to make goodwill my 'new-best-friend'
Feeling a bit hopeful as I fill out all the MFP forms. It looks like it will be inspiring to see my progress, and they seem to make it easy to track just about everything. Congrats on your progress! No doubt you have earned it!!
