New and looking for macro and fitness advice

Hey everyone!
I'm a 20yr old female student in the UK trying to lose weight. I currently weigh 75kg and am 165cm tall. Ideally, I would like to lose 15kg.
I started C2 5K 5 weeks ago and I am determined to get to the end (never been too good a runner). I also do yoga 2-3 times a week but more for relaxation than fitness. I would like to start lifting weights but I have only ever used machines before. My question is: can I continue using machines or do I have to use free weights? If so, I have no idea where to start and could use some advice about that.
In terms of diet, I struggle to eat enough protein as I try to keep my food budget down. I rarely eat meat and can't really afford fish (other than tinned tuna occasionally). So, do I need to eat more protein? I usually eat between 40-50g/d. Again, if that is the case how can I do this without loads of calories, meat, or spending a fortune? I already eat greek yogurt and a little peanut butter but other sources always welcome!
My huge diet breaker is how hungry I am. ALL THE TIME! Even when I wasn't dieting, I am always hungry and I struggle to concentrate on work because I continually think about food. I only eat brown carbs, I eat lots of fibre and green veg etc. Anyone know of anything I can do to stop feeling so miserable and hungry? I am currently eating 1500 calories a day because 1200 makes me miserable and I feel ill.
Sorry for the saga... I would really appreciate any input anyone can give me on any of my questions!

Try the calculator on iifym.com for a few weeks to see how that works for you0

Idk how the prices of chicken in the uk is but here in the us is probably the best way to save money and get lots of protein. I just bought chicken thighs for 0.77 USD a pound. The way I was able to starve off my temptation for food is usually chewing on carrots and broccoli but there has to be better ways than that lol0

Thanks for the quick replies!
Haha - there must be a better way than carrots. People say if you're hungry - eat an apple. It just doesn't cut it.
I think chicken is quite expensive and I'm a bit particular about where my meat comes from. It's like £3.50 for a few bits of chicken breast - maybe I should just pay for it.0
