My running NSV!

I had to share this somewhere, because when I realized it, I almost cried.
I started running about 4 months ago. I've used MapMyRun to log every single mile, good or bad, fast or slow. As of today, I've run 130 miles in those 4 months. I went back to my very first mile today. I did it in 15 minutes. And I remember that mile being so incredibly hard and my legs were sore all over for like 3 days afterwards. I felt so slow and clunky and didn't think I'd ever get better at it.
I've done 3 5k's since then, finishing the first in 42 minutes, the second in 44, and the most recent in 43. They were all really freaking cold and hard. But in the third race, I didn't take a walk break. I didn't stop. I finished the two first miles in 13 minutes each. The third mile was the hardest and I knew I was slowing down but I didn't stop.
So really, after being kind of bummed that my 5k time has remained pretty steady, I realized that my mile time has decreased. I went from a 15 minute mile to a 13 minute mile. My new year's resolution was to get to a comfortable 12 minute mile this year. Now I feel like that's absolutely attainable!!!

Congrats! That's a really good one My goal is also to be at a comfortable 12 minute mile before summer starts! I feel like I can go on forever at about 13.5 min/mile (4.5 mph), but never seem to get faster, so that's what I am working on now.
Good luck!!0 -
