injured-how to maintain progress?

Hi guys, so i just started with MFP a cpl weeks back, am recording and tracking what i eat, working out (light cardio and occassional strength training) and am fairly active (working as a nurse on my feet all day), today while running i pulled something in my back (i literally have no idea how i managed to do that) and its very painful to move, even after muscle relaxants. my question is this- while i wait to be feeling normal-ish again, should i try to workout another way (if so, what should i try that wont put a lot of strain on my back?) or just focus on eating right and re-couping? I cant think of the last time, if ever, that i hurt my back, so i dont really know how long to expect the pain to last either..
thanks so much!

Don't try and excercise at all until you are better. It is better to try and take a couple of rest days then to be out even longer because you injured yourself even more. Just stay on track with house eating and maybe readjust your lifestyle to sedentary to make up for not working out and then when you are healthier just change it back. I have a knee injury right now so that's what I've been doing and it works for me .0

should i make it sedentary even if i am still working? (so far, i may end up having to take time off ) i have it set to lightly active currently bc most days i am on my feet for most of the day, before any workouts.0

stick to that and see how things go, but do rest your body till it's better. if your weight goes up, maybe then you can look at changing it to sedentary.0

As someone whose been through multiple injures including a pulled shoulder muscle and six weeks in a walking boot, just keep to your mfp goals and take it easy. I did do some walking in the boot toward the later weeks but I was serving and used to being on my feet all day anyway. Right now I'm nursing a pulled ligament in my heel and I've kept up one or two exercises a morning just to keep me used to the schedule. Things I can do without involving the offending foot. An injury is not the end of the world, it's just a reminder that you're human0
