When taking measurements what do you measure? I notice myfitnesspal has three under check in with option to add more. Thanks! :)

I'm most concerned with waist and hips. The trainers I work with also measure triceps, but if you're lifting, they might not get smaller, just firmer, and possibly even bigger.

I lifted in a deficit and lost 2 inches on my arms. If there is fat there, you're bound to lose some in your arms if you're in a deficit, lifting or not. I'd track it!

    Way to many things.

    So once a month:
    • Wrist (I'm not sure if mine is going to get any smaller.
    • Forearm
    • neck
    • waist (smallest point)
    • Abdomen at navel
    • Hips
    • Right Thigh
    • Right Calf
Every couple months, I'll also do:
    • Left & Right Bicep
    • Bust
    • Underbust
    • Left Thigh
    • Right Thigh

I recommend to measure. You can put more numbers to your weight loss. Something else to obsess over...lol. But you will hit a point when the scale stops moving one day of you are working out. I don't mean lifting heavy weights. It can just be running. You will build muscle as your burning fat and the numbers stay the same on the scale. But the measurements change....ahhhh now you can still see progress is happening via numbers. It's all a mental game. If the numbers drive you......then YES measure everything like arditarose said.

    GOOD LUCK!!!

I measure my neck, chest, underbust, natural waist, waist at belly button, hips, thigh, calf, ankle, upper arm, forearm, wrist.

I do this weekly and track in excel. It is actually interesting to see where the weight comes off.

Weekly? How much change do you see by the week? I sometimes don't see anything for over a month.

Something gets smaller almost every week. Things like my calves and wrists only change every few months, but my waist, hips, thighs change very frequently. That's one of the good things about all the measurements.

A few weeks ago I gained three pounds when I started strength training. It was temporary water weight and gone in a couple of weeks...but that was the week my calves and forearms both lost 1/4 inch which made me feel a little happier. It gives me some progress to see even in a week the scale doesn't move or moves the wrong way.

Pretty cool. I freak when I see the scale go up still, even though I'm always telling everyone else to calm down about it. Maybe I should measure more. Everything seems pretty stable and slow moving though.

Thank you! This has helped me to see what I want to measure. Basically all of it now. :)

I don't like to see it go up either, but it seems to go up at least once every 4-6 weeks, so I am now used to the water fluctuations at this point. LOL!
